# amazing Pandora playlists: My favorite one right now is based off the artist Mika & it is just filled with happy, energetic, wonderful music. Mixed with a cup of coffee [or ten] & it never ever fails to cheer me up.
# heated seats in your vehicle: Wisconsin is shit-cold already. Need I say more?
# this video: A Big Fat Promotion
# reminiscing on where I was this time, last year: Yeah, I was totally flying from New York to my hometown in WI [I still lived in Denver at that time], relishing the past week of amazing-ness I had just experienced. Strand Bookstore, Moe's burrito-place, wandering around the subway, bubble tea, free starbucks from a friend who worked there, having pixie-short hair, Max Brenner's, the Atmosphere concert, etc! It was good times, for shiz.
# that time I had purple hair. It lasted a few weeks before I got sick of the upkeep & dyed it brown, but it was amaaaazing. At it's brightest [after several rounds of application], it was a really intense shade of blue-violet perfection. When I am really rich, aka have enough money to bleach my hair out again, I might have to mess around with more unnatural colors. I would maybe like to try teal or blue or something next.
# fancy bath concoctions. Wouldn't it be nice to live close to Lush again? Yes, yes it would.
# train rides: actually, anything on rails where you get to zone out & be transported is basically fabulous. I am sick of driving & being in charge.
# Champagne Thursday, because I actually have real champagne this time. Granted, it was $6 at Walmart, but I think that is progress.

Okay, okay, really. One of these days I will have something to say on the other days of the week. Maybe. ;]

# interior renovations: We are getting ready to do a mini-overhaul on our kitchen right now, & it has me super-amped to eventually take on these challenges in my own place. When I get one, you know. But I also rearranged & hung art & such in my temporary bedroom at the beginning of last weekend, & for the first time actually feel proud of a space which I live in. Yay!
# color. With renovations, comes paint chips. & boy do I love paint chips. My selection for the kitchen consisted of several shades of grayed-out blues & greens, black, "anchoring neutral", which is like a very dark brown-grey color that is close to black, "Sake to Me" white, turquoise, tans, khakis, & one square of "denver omelette [grabbed for the happy reference mostly, yet managing to make a wonderfully yellow-orange addition to the palette]. I also tend to make final decisions regarding paint solely upon the name of the color, because somehow that turns out better.
# my beagle has the hiccups. I feel bad, but it's damn cute.
# & assorted-ly: veganism... le français... colorful tights... cuddling under my down comforter to watch foreign films by myself -- just because no one else here likes them does not mean I can't enjoy them, baby... realizing great potential Christmas plans [in October!]... covering my desk area with newspaper so I can scribble with colorful markers as things occur to me... packages in the mail...

Okay, so I'm running a tad late on this one, but if you're in the right timezone I will still probably hit a Wednesday post... technically speaking.

# Gigantic - With Paul Dano & Zooey Deschanel, this movie carried a bit of an indie vibe, but it was really very good. I haven't watched a movie by myself for a while that I really enjoyed, let alone managed to finish without walking away. I won't tell you much more so you can go enjoy it by yourself.
# cold weather - I can finally layer up & embrace dark colors without feeling like a weirdo. The best part: by the time I am sick of freezing all the time, I will be moving to Denver where the crappy cold is balanced by occasional days of sunny warmth & melting snow. Scha-wing.
# accidental Wayne's World references - see last word in above blurb.
# the laundry smell - Pick your detergent, wash where you like, but you know that scent makes you smile regardless.
# playful tights & stockings; my favorite Frye's; black jackets; growing hair; patterned dresses; jeans that still fit when all the other ones don't; waffle-knit things; statement necklaces; accoutrement in general.

Have a scandalous-fabulous-nifty Thursday!

I declare Wednesday a day to be extra grateful & love-filled & a day to share that with everyone. See this for roots.
...
# language. I started Italian a few weeks ago, & am finally getting out of that first awkward phase where nothing sticks or makes sense WHATSOEVER. It also makes me appreciate my various levels of competency in other languages.
# Lucky Strikes. Bought my first pack yesterday & came to realize that they are my new favorite. Expensive though, so mostly good for special occasions. I also intend to learn how to roll my own cigarettes soon.
# sore muscles. You know that feeling you get the day after you exercise? It's like an internal well of vitality, bubbling around inside while you swing & stretch & smile, knowing your body-machine is being worked like it's supposed to. Eating well tends to increase this feeling.
# Bohemia. Cigarettes, letters, caravans, scarves, empty bottles of wine, that certain audacity towards life... I have been in a very romantic phase & want very badly to believe that life could be all emotions & art & profound.
...
Tonight I am making chili dogs; I am very stoked. Might clean my room or offer to begin renovations on the kitchen so my dad can sell his house. Tomorrow is pay-day [& champagne thursday...], then I am up north for the weekend, so posting is possibly going to be sparse until next week.
Have a good one, lovelies!

Good news.
It's Champagne Thursday.
I love Zooey Deschanel [we've got a bandwagon for that], & the character she played in Failure to Launch.
Paula: Hey, hey.
Kit: Hey, Paula. Good news. It's Champagne Thursday.
Paula: It's Friday.
Kit: Uh, yeah, Thursday came twice this week.
Paula: For the third straight week.
Kit: There's talk of making it permanent.
Paula: Oh, kind of like Daylight Saving's Time?
Kit: Right, but for booze.
Anyway, got class from 2:00-4:45, then a commute & work until 9.
Then I'm comin' home, kickin' off my shoes, & pourin' a glass of Chardonnay. [Which I figure is close enough to Champagne - first three letters match - since I don't have any of the latter in current supply]

Ha!
Who says I have to post daily? I can go a full year without a good post, obviously. It must be something in Fall that brings out the rant in me.
Today I went to the laundromat & washed every piece of clothing I own. Intention being, I want to purge the stuff I don't wear anymore so that I feel fabulous & inspired & grateful every time I open my closet.
My stuff only filled about three and a half washers, which I don't think is too bad considering this is pre-downsizing. The point of going to the laundromat [when I do actually have a functional washer & dryer at my house] was to see all my clothes grouped together in an unfamiliar place, and whatnot. I think it worked; I left two shirts in the lost&found already & have a renewed perspective on everything else, so when I dig through it all later, I won't be coddled into keeping something that I only like in the sanctity of my own bedroom.
I am going to go put my laundry away, & everything that I haven't worn lately is going in a box. If I don't miss it before I move in January, it's staying in the box & the box is not going with me.
By the way, I work at the laundromat. I am a laundress? Laundry lady? Mistress of accoutrement?
